爱心公益助教,国高学子一直在行动



心中有爱,眼里有光,便可摘星辰。成都市温江区二十一世纪学校一直秉承“做豪迈的中国人”的校训,培养“具有中国灵魂、国际视野和跨文化交流能力的社会接班人”,爱心公益助教,国高班一直在行动!


Love and light possessed intrinsically would make impossible possible. Adhering to the school motto of “being a proud Chinese with Chinese spirit, international outlook and cross-cultural communicating skills”, the international department has always been on the way.


慈善一日捐



“凝聚爱心,情暖校园”。2021年1月国高班策划组织了“慈善一日捐校内募捐活动,用于帮扶温江区的困难群众。全校师生积极参与捐款活动,真挚的慈善之心得以彰显,淳善的校园文化得以体现,悠久的民族底蕴得以发扬。


With love permeating the campus, a fundraising activity organized by the international department in January of 2021 was aimed at offering aids to the needy in Wenjiang district. All students and faculty staff were actively engaged in donation, which embodied the school culture and long-standing national heritage featuring benevolence and kindness.






活动后,经过汇总、统计、将捐款全数捐赠给温江慈善总会,得到了他们的肯定与称赞。“慈善一日捐”活动的开展,使全校师生受到一次爱的教育和洗礼,人人皆受到本次活动的感染,对“慈善”有了更为深切的感悟。这是爱心的起点。


All money collected in the activity was donated to the Wenjiang Charity Federation, earning their recognition and credit. All students and faculty staff were baptized with love rendered through this activity and obtained a better perception on charity, signaling a point where love is planted. 


守护阅读之窗,情系石门坎小学


“捐一缕书香,爱心千里送真情;献一片真情,捐书万卷育英才”。2021年5月24日,我校国高班策划并组织了“知识启迪梦想,爱心孕育希望”主题的公益捐赠活动,向云南省宁蒗彝族自治县西川乡石门坎小学捐赠书籍和文具。通过此次公益行动,帮助山区的同学们提高成绩,增长知识,共享获取知识的快乐,满足对知识的渴望,充实他们的精神世界,成就梦想,构筑美好未来。


Another donation activity, titled “enlightening dreams with knowledge, planting hopes with love”, was held by the international department in 24th,May of 2021, for the purpose of endowing books and stationery to Shimenkan school in Xichuan Village, Ninglang Yi Autonomous County, Yunan Province. This activity intends to help students there enrich their knowledge and improve academic performances, while at the same time satiating their aspiration for knowledge and fulfilling their dream with a promising future.

全校师生积极响应,为怀揣梦想的孩子们送上一份爱心,纷纷捐出书籍和文具。目前共计捐赠书籍1000余册、文具2000余件及其他物品。


This activity has be blessed with positive reaction from both students and school staff and has by now received more than 1000 books and 2000 pieces of stationery in total.





为山区孩子录制英语课

Creating Video Courses for Children from Impoverished Regions


国高班的同学定期为山区的孩子们录制英语课程。学生们轮流当小老师,从单词、句子等方面的英语学习,为山区的孩子教授英语课。此活动会长期坚持下去,为山区的孩子们带来英语教学资源。这是一次很有意义的爱心活动,帮助了更多孩子学习英语,对国高班的孩子来说,也是一次很好的语言表达能力的锻炼。


Senior high students from the Department of Overseas Education in the 21st Century School are recording English lessons presented by themselves on a regular basis for children in remote areas. They have been playing the role as a teacher, giving instructions about how to build up English vocabulary and sentences, which will be a long-term program and a reliable source of English learning. This is a humanitarian aid generating social benefits, as it facilitates a wider coverage of English acquisition among children. 

For these senior students per se, this precious experience optimizes their communicative skills. 





大厦巍然,梁椽共举。此次公益活动,同学们通过远程教授基础英语的方式跨越山川河流为云南山区的孩子们送去知识的甘露,让山区孩子们充满对知识的渴求和对未来的向往。在老师的指导下,学生大大提高了自己的制作课件的技巧,体会到为人师者的专业高度和模范作用,从而端正自己的行为。国高班的学子们更加坚定知识启迪梦想,爱心孕育希望,继续开始了他们下一步公益活动。


Via the distant delivery of preliminary English courses, children born and raised up in poverty-stricken areas of Yunnan Province, have a good access to abundant language-learning resources regardless of geographic barriers, which breeds a growing desire for new knowledge and a promising future. Under the instruction of the head teacher, students have developed more expertise and sophistication in making their own PPT, which illuminates their awareness of the professionalism and exemplary behaviors of their own teachers. All of these, in turn, awakens them to the significance of disciplining their own deeds. Convinced by the enlightening nature of knowledge, the senior students of 21st Century school embarked upon another philanthropic move. 


爱心贸易节·温暖邛崃行


the Charity Sale- a heart-warming journey to Qionglai


“冬日温暖由你我创造,摊位创新由你决定,物品价值由你重新定义”。2021年11月24日,我校国高班学生组织参与策划开展了第一届贸易节暨爱心跳蚤市场义卖活动。此次活动募集的资金将全部捐献给邛崃市聋哑特殊教育学校。


With an attempt of ‘Making the Cold Winter Healing’, these 21st Century seniors planned and organized the first charity sale program on the 24th of November in 2021,where the booths were flexible and prices negotiable. This would be a fund-raising event specifically catering to the demands of the local school for deaf and mute. 







每一件商品都饱含着满满的爱与温暖,通过义卖活动的形式,把闲置的物品变得更有价值,更具有温度。此次活动,凝聚了世纪校园的温暖,在展示学生多彩的创意才能的同时,也提升了独立解决问题和提升社会综合实践能力


Each item is closely associated with benevolence and humanitarianism, which upgrades the value of the disused via the charity event. At the same time, this program mirrors the loving and care from the 21st Century School in essence, where students staged their creativity, improved their problem-solving capability and enriched their social experience. 


2022年1月6日,成都市残疾人福利基金会联合我校在邛崃市特殊教育九年制义务学校开展新春慰问活动暨成都市残疾人福利基金会“2022我帮残疾人过个年”活动。通过义卖活动筹集的善款购买了抗寒衣物,国高班师生代表将衣物捐给邛了崃市特殊教育九年制义务学校,为同学们送去新年的一份祝福,希望让他们感受到社会大家庭的温暖。


On the 1st of June in 2022, Chengdu Base of China Foundation for Disabled Persons, aligned with the 21st Century school, organized a charitable program during the Spring Festival in 2022 -- ’A Heart-warming Lunar New Year for the disabled ’ . The program was based in the school focusing on nine-year compulsory education for the handicapped in Qionglai, raising funds through philanthropic auction to purchase cold-resistant clothing for handicapped students. The representative teachers and seniors in the Overseas Education Department of the 21st Century school played an active part in clothes donation, giving their best wishes in the hope of passing down love and care. 







我校校园义卖活动共筹集善款15647.2元人民币,全部换购为抗寒衣物,捐给邛崃市特殊教育九年制义务学校,相信此次活动一定能带动更多的社会人士参与到慈善公益事业中,也再次彰显了二十一世纪学校全体师生对做豪迈的中国人的诠释,对做具有中国灵魂的中国人的诠释。这也是国高班爱心公益献温暖成长的一大步


Through the charity program, a total of 1,5647.2 RMB was raised, which would be used to buy cold-resistant clothes for that school.  We have a solid faith that this move will be highly influential enough to engage more social citizens to participate in charity activities, which reflects our interpretation of the school motto-’ To Be a Proud Chinese’, and our understanding of the Chinese Soul. This also marks a huge leap for our senior students of Overseas Education Department in developing sympathy and benevolence. 


彩虹公益社晚安故事


Bedtime Stories for Rainbow volunteer club


除了录制英语课程的讲授,国高班学子们参与了“彩虹晚安故事伴乡村儿童成长”公益活动,录制中英文晚安故事的音频,把故事传递给西北山区、尼泊尔山区的孩子们,给他们讲述专属的晚安故事,让他们感受到漫漫长夜的温暖陪伴,爱心故事伴随他们度过美好的童年时光。

Students from 21st Century School recorded hundreds of videos for the kids living in Northwest and Nepal mountain areas in both Chinese and English version. They aim to be one accompany of those kids and hope them to have an unforgettable childhood.

在讲故事的同时,学生们大大提升了自己的英语口语技能和表达能力,并且在用手机录制音频转化文件时,学会探究基本的计算机技能,学习音频文件格式转化和音频剪辑,提高了多媒体编辑技能。


Our students’ speaking and communicating skills are greatly improved by participating in the activity. Besides, students have acquired how to edit multimedia information and learned how to do research about computer science when they transfer the files with proper formats or do the audio clips tasks.

给山区孩子们录课并非是单方面的援助授课,对我而言更是一种互助。有言,教学相长,互为师。在我的学习生涯中,我常自认为我在听完课后,能完全理解并以更简洁的方式站在讲台上去传递知识,但在这个知识加工的过程中,其实忽略了老师和同学的互动,情感化的引导词和身体动作。而这些恰好是让学生更好理解,更有兴趣的教学关键。这是在授课前的我不具备的。在录课过程中,我们在课前尽可能多的看看不同的线上小学老师的教学视频,PPT排版,然后择其优,进行模仿,重新梳理整合成自己的教学课件去给孩子们授课。衷心希望他们能有所收获,走出大山,能选择他们的想要的选择。

For Arvin, delivering classes for kids in mountain areas is not just an extra support of school curriculum but an support for myself, because we all know one old saying that teaching benefits teachers as well as students. To be specific, before the class we need to make preparations such as watching dozens of online classes, taking notes about the main ideas, analyzing them, designing some activities and finally making a brand-new class. Therefore, it is really beneficial for me to take part in course-recording activities.

When I was assigned with the job ofcreating education video on English for kids in poverty, I didn’t have the motivation to do it and was a bit scared. I wasn’t and still isn’t  very skilled. When it comes to teaching andtalking in general, I often feels cringe and uneasy in any sort of socialenvironment. I’m the guy who sit in acorner during a party and talk to nobody the entire time. So my first instinct was to dodge the project for as long as I possibly could and potentially skipped it. However, I failed totally in dodging and was chosen to be one of the firstto record it.


Even though I didn’t want to record the video, I did want to help the ones in need. SoI began the making of my PowerPoint for my presentation. I spent hours makingthe powerpoint, trying to make it as functional yet interesting as I could.

 

On the presentation day, I was extremelynervous. The first presenter’s presentationwent really smoothly as if it was done by a professional, yet I didn’t practice presenting mine at all.When my turn came, I tried to convince my teacher to let the firstpresenter present my presentation instead, but my action failed and I had to present it myself.

 

I felt doomed, and Iknew the quality of my presentation would be absolutelygarbage compared to the last one, and everyone would be disappointed at me. All of my classmates weresitting in front of me and all I could see fromtheir eyes were doubt. Yet with all that burden,I presented my presentation.

 

At first, I made a ton of mistakes. I kepton mispronouncing words, which was unforgivable for teaching entry levelEnglish. I was so nervous that I almost fell due to my shaking legs. After afew more tried, I told my teacher that I would give up and wished someone else would present it for me. My requestwas declined and my teacher told everyone to get out of the classroom and told me to only leave after I wasdone with it.

 

I was quite desperate, and I tried to calm down but my mind wouldn’t let me. A few minutes later, I managed to find tranquility in me,then motivation and confidence. I tried presenting again, and this time, itwent smoothly. I didn’t need to worryabout the judgement my classmates would give me any more and felt much morerelaxed. After I was done with the presentation,I felt better than ever and was really happy with myself.

 

After this “wonderful” experience, Ilearnt that I could do amazing works if I care less about my surroundings andfocus on improving myself, that doubting myself would stop me from reaching mypotentials, and that people around me care about me.

这次的录课,我收获到了幸福感,这个幸福感出现在我帮助他人的时候,一想到这次的录课能让孩子们收获到知识,我真的是非常开心,在录课的过程与课前准备时,我也是非常的享受,这让我体验了一次当老师的辛苦。我想说的是,如果疫情平稳,有机会的话能去到当地去给孩子们上课。我非常希望有更多的志愿者可以加入录课这个有意义的活动来,也希望这些孩子可以通过我们录的课和自己的努力,去考试一个好大学,找到一份好工作。

I really feel a sense of satisfaction through the course-recording activities since I hold the sincere passion to help those who don’t have an easy access to education. I truly hope the kids in mountain areas can gain knowledge from my class and I really did my best to realize the goal. I know how to be a responsible person through this project. I hope more students will join us to be volunteers and also make best wishes for the children in outlying areas to have a decent job and bright future when they grow up.

经过长时间的助学,我感受颇多。每次开始准备助学资料,我的眼前似乎浮现出他们渴望的眼神,我这微不足道的举动不知是否能真正帮助他们,但我每一次一定会尽力而为,我希望每次的课堂是有益的,并且是有意义的。助学这件事情是严肃的,我不仅是为自己负责,也是为别人负责,明白了担当,明白了责任。虽然不能看见他们在上课,但在每次助学结束,我好像能感受他们,让每一堂冰冷的网课同样可以充满爱。

Every time when I prepare for the courses, the image of their eager-for-the-knowledge eyes is in my mind. As a result I take every class seriously and spare every effort to make my class meaningful. And I realize that I not only need to be responsible for myself but also for them. Although we just had the classes through internet, we really spent a wonderful time in online courses which were filled with love and laughter.

通过公益活动让学生更具有家国情怀和社会责任感,更是对二十一世纪的校训:“做豪迈的中国人”的诠释。出国留学中心的学子在做公益的路上学会了设身处地为他人着想,产生同理心和怜悯心激励自己身,从而发自内心地做对山区,对社会和对国家有意义的事情。培养了学生自身良好行为习惯和社会责任感,让他们更加珍惜现在的生活和学习机会,努力学习文化知识,成为国家栋梁。


Through public welfare activities, students will have a greater sense of family and social responsibility, which is also a perfect interpretation of the school motto of the 21st century: "Be a proud Chinese". Through these activities, students in the Center of Study abroad have learned to put themselves in others and have empathy and compassion, so as to do meaningful things to the mountains, the society and the country out of their kindness. What’s more, students’ behavior and living habits are generally cultivated in a good way. Also, they have built a strong sense of social responsibility. Through the activities, they cherish and enjoy the current life, seize every learning opportunity, and dedicate themselves to become a useful person to our country in the future.
